DAILY ACTIVITY STATION     

    The third station is the Daily Activity Station.  In this station, students are either introduced to a new math concept or given an opportunity to review a math concept that they have been working on in class.  The new or review material is introduced to the students either Monday or Tuesday of each week depending on whether or not the day is even or odd.  The concept is discussed in each group and then students are given a chance to practice, with guidance from the teacher, the new ideas presented by the teacher each week.  Small groups give the teacher many opportunities to check for student understanding of the material.  At times students are given the chance to explain their own understanding of the material to one of their peers.  This is another advantage of working in small groups and having a small class size.
